Five steps
to
better
understand
& solve a
problem

STEP 01

Research

Innovation begins with people. We depend on them for inspiration, perspective and to understand things that we can’t see or experience on our own. Each project begins with equal parts curiosity, analysis & rigor. Once we understand what the most important needs and problems are, we can we begin to craft a solution that can help them.

STEP 02

Synthesis

Visualizing and mapping research makes it easier to see patterns, ask questions & challenge assumptions. Which part of this process is most valuable? Is the value of the solution greater than the cost to make it? What part can we solve with the constraints of time and budget? These questions are essential to converge on a realistic and testable solution.

STEP 03

Prototype

The longer we work on something, the more difficult it is to accept critical feedback. To avoid costly detours, it is important test ideas frequently with a level of fidelity that is appropriate for the stage of the project. There is knowledge to gain from testing assumptions as frequently and quickly as possible. It's better to be approximately right than precisely wrong.

STEP 04

Test

Innovation begins with people. We depend on them for inspiration, perspective and to understand things that we can’t see or experience on our own. Each project begins with equal parts curiosity, analysis & rigor. Once we understand what the most important needs and problems are, we can we begin to craft a solution that can help them.

STEP 05

Build

This process will never end simply because the world is constantly changing. Even the most successful products must work tirelessly to keep up with the rapid pace of change. Things in our lives come and go, but the ones that seem to hold on the longest are the ones that understand us and stay deeply connected.
